AMD Radeon™ RAMDisk Support Center

The self-service support center provides solutions to your most common questions about RAMDisk in order to get you on your way quickly. If you can't find the answer to your question, our Support Team is ready to help.

How much of my total memory should be left for system use, and not allocated to the RAMDisk?
For Windows7, you should leave about 2GB minimum for system use. Over allocating memory to the RAMDisk will result in other system operations running slower. RAMDisk should be assigned the “extra memory” you have in your system. Upgrade now as cost effective 8GB DIMMs are available for your desktop PC, making 32GB capacity is a common reality.

After purchasing my license key, I can’t get the RAMDisk to recognize above 4GB. What do I do?
Please make sure you have entered your license key into the RAMDisk Configuration Utility. Select the Purchase menu item, then Enter License Key and type in your 16-digit key. You must be connected to the Internet to verify the license key. Once the key is verified, you do not need to be connected to the Internet to use the software. Also make sure you have more than 4GB of memory in your system.

After installing RAMDisk, I get a BOD (blue screen of death). What do I do?
Remove RAMDisk from your system. Reboot the system making sure the BSOD does not reoccur.

How do I uninstall RAMDisk?
The proper way to uninstall RAMDisk is by selecting 'Remove' RAMDisk Software option in the AMD RadeonTM RAMDisk folder from the start menu.

After creating a drive, the system can’t see the drive letter assigned. What do I do?
Go into Disk Management in Windows, Select the RAMDisk drive, and format it as an NTFS drive. By doing this the drive will appear as a formatted drive.

I purchased a RAMDisk License Key but what do I do with it?
Run the RAMDisk Configuration Utility, select the Purchase menu item, then Enter License Key and type in your 16-digit key. You must be connected to the Internet to verify the license key. Once the key is verified, you do not need to be connected to the Internet to use the software.

I've wiped my hard drive, re-installed RAMDisk but now I can't register my license. What do I do?
If you wipe (re-format) your hard drive you will need to submit a Support Ticket to have your license key reset , if you have RAMDisk version 4.3 or prior. Please provide your original license transaction ID# and 16-digit key with your ticket submission to expedite your request. But if you have RAMDisk version 4.4 or later, all you need to do is redeem (re-register) the license key. So there is no need to request a license key reset anymore. However for RAMDisk versions prior to 4.4 a license key reset is required if OS is reinstalled or hard drive is replaced.
